MESS operates two charity shops, Island Castaways in Craignure and Bunessan, to encourage re-use of items, both shops are now open 6 days per week, please view opening times below.

We now have a small showroom for furniture in the Bunessan branch of Island Castaways. If you would like to donate items of furniture, please do so by prior arrangement with the shop or contact us at the Craignure shop to arrange a collection, telephone 01680 812 526.

After the cost of running the shops have been met, half of the operational profits are distributed to good causes. The other half is retained by MESS to support our other work. We currently have £5000 to distribute amongst community groups and projects. Up to £500 per application will be considered.

Last year we distributed £5000 which was raised through the MESS projects Island Castaways shops in Bunessan and Craignure during the last year. After the cost of running the shops has been met, half of the proceeds are used to support other areas of the MESS projects work with the rest donated to local good causes.
